2019 - September : Day excursion to the Boca do Rio excavation
In September the AAA organized an excursion to the excavation site at Boca do Rio where João Bernardes (University of the Algarve) and the German team from the University of Marburg were continuing their yearly excavations.
The German team led by Felix Teichner and Florian Hermann was continuing the excavation of the industrial area which they initiated last year. Lat year's excavation was performed on the sandy hillside a little further inland from the beach where structures were expected based on geodesic imaging. A long structure was excavated which was probably a quay where ships would be moored as there probably was a lagoon/bay stretching inland.

This year João Bernardes was continuing with his excavations of the Roman bath area. Large parts of the remaining structures of the Roman bath/villa have already vanished into the ocean. In addition an 18th century warehouse was built on top of the Roman foundations.
This year the German team excavatied another area close by "the harbour" where other structures were expected based on the geodesic imaging.
