Unconventional, pious, ambitious, and - above all - innovative, Queen Hatshepsut ruled Egypt between around 1473-1458 BCE. Her remaining monuments are some of the most beautiful from Pharaonic Egypt - but her name has been consistently attacked on most of them.

Dr Campbell Price is Curator of Egypt and Sudan at Manchester Museum, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool and Chair of Trustees at the Egypt Exploration Society, the UK's foremost charity supporting Egypt's cultural heritage. He has published widely, lectured internationally, and regularly comments on Egyptological subjects for TV and radio. His latest book for children, written with Greg Jenner, is Totally Chaotic History: Ancient Egypt Gets Unruly (Walker Books, 2024).
