"The Story about the Tavira Vase"
In the late 90’s, during the remodelling of a bank, archaeologists made some of the most important findings of Tavira’s archaeology. The relevance of the findings resulted in the construction of a Museum to house them. Amongst them, the Tavira Vase is the more important and has also been on display in the Musée du Louvre and the Institute du Monde Arabe, both in Paris. |
Sandra Cavaco was born in Mértola and grew up in the Algarve. Graduated from University of Lisbon (1999), received a MA from University of Algarve (2012). Working in Municipality of Tavira since 2001, her main research interests include local history/archaeology and medieval/modern ceramics. Sandra is a founding member of the CIGA Group (Islamic Ceramics from Gharb alAndalus).
Jaquelina Covaneiro was born in Coimbra and grew up in Ourém (Santarém). Graduated from University of Coimbra (1995), received a MA from University of Lisbon (2005). Working in Municipality of Tavira since 2002, her main research interests include local history/archaeology, medieval/modern ceramics and fauna studies. Jaquelina is a founding member of the CIGA Group (Islamic Ceramics from Gharb al Andalus).
